Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program has been developed by United States Green Building Council (USGBC) for promoting builders to construct energy efficient and Eco-friendly buildings. LEED green associate is a professional certification exam administered by Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI), a credentialing body for USGBC.
Eligibility-
The applicant must have participated in a LEED registered project or gone through an educational program of green building principles. This must be documented in the form of attestation letter by a project manager, supervisor, client or teacher.

Water management: – Types and quality of water, Water management.
Project systems and energy impacts: – Environmental concerns, Green power.
Acquisition, installation, and management of project materials: – Recycled materials, Construction waste management, Locally harvested and manufactured materials.
Stakeholder involvement in innovation: – Durability planning and management, Integrated project team criteria, Innovative and regional design.
Project surroundings and public outreach: – Codes of electrical, plumbing, mechanical, building, and fire protection.
Test Format-
LEED Green associate is a criterion referenced and objective test. The examinee is evaluated against a set criteria decided by subject matter experts. There are 100 multiple choice questions in this exam, which are to be solved in 2 hours time. The total time for administering LEED green associate exam is 2 hours and 20 minutes including an introductory tutorial (10 minutes) and a short satisfactory survey (10 minutes). This exam is delivered on computers.
Marking scheme-
The test result is a scaled score lying in range from 125 and 200. The passing score is 170 and higher. The result is displayed on computer screen immediately after the test is completed and a printed copy of score is handed to the candidates by testing center. The successful candidates can obtain their certificate and use “LEED Green Assoc” or “LEED Green Associate” title after processing of exam results. The exam results are processed within 72 hours of its administration.

LEED professional exams are offered at Prometric testing centers. Their registrations are done at Prometric website.
Exam Fees-
LEED Green Associate test fee is $150 for USGBC members and $200 for non members.
